Peace and Rest

Today we went to church and got to see our sweet grandchildren!
Hannah's dress was SO adorable!!!

If I could have one made to fit me, I would...it was darling.

Look at Sarah in her pretty dress
(she was borrowing a bib from her sister :0)

And here is Ethan

After church we made three quick stops (still working on the OWL project)
and then we went grocery shopping.
By the time we got home we were exhausted.
After a bite to eat, and then putting the groceries away
we got a chance to rest a bit.
That's one of the reasons I love Sundays...
We get to feed our souls (at church) and then we get to rest our bodies.
Sundays are peaceful and help us recharge for the week ahead.
I think that's what God intended all along.

This is our bedroom. I like to keep it pretty and peaceful.
The rocker in the corner was the rocker I rocked my babies in
and now I'm rocking my grandchildren in it :0)
Thanks Sis, for storing it for me all those years...Love ya.

YAY it's Saturday!

Today is Saturday...YAY!
I decided to ride with my husband on a service call
and then we ran some errands together.
We haven't been able to do that in a while and we had so much fun!
He is helping me prepare for my upcoming adventure
Remember Owls???
Anyway, our downtown fountain was PINK today
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

You may know of an event going on in your area
to raise money for Breast Cancer Research.
I pray you will do what you can to contribute to this very good cause.

Whoo, Whoo

Today I ran some errands.
I'm getting ready to start a new adventure.
I've mentioned it before, but it's getting closer now and I'm so excited!!!
I'll give you one clue...OWLS
That's all I'm gonna say for now :0)

So this is how the sky looked again late this afternoon

and even though it's still not cool outside
the weather put me in the mood for some homemade soup

And it was very good!

Let there be Light

The afternoons here lately have been very dark and dreary.
I'm not sure why.
It is common to have days like this in the summer, but not everyday and not quite so dark.
But this week, practically every day it gets really dark
and then starts thundering and threatening to rain
but it never seems to amount to anything.
I don't like it to be so dark :0(
This is what it looked like the other day at 2:30 in the afternoon

and this is what it looked like today

Bad weather never use to bother me, I wonder why it does now?
I might feel differently if my husband was home (he's still out working)
and I know that at least two of my children are probably not home from work yet.
I always feel better about storms if I know that everyone is safe inside their homes.
Then it's ok for the winds to blow and the rain to fall (no matter how hard).

I decided it might be a good idea to put some fresh batteries in my candles.
(that's sounds funny, I know)
I have some really cool candle-looking lights that run on batteries.

The one on the left was a gift from a friend
and the one on the right was a gift from my sweet cousin (I have a few of those, they came in a set/4).
I have them placed around the house. They have built in timers and once you've set them
they will come on the same time each day and stay on for about 5 hours.
I just love them! They make such a difference in a dark space...See what I mean

Long Days

Today Mom had a doctor's appointment.
We waited a l-o-n-g time to see the doctor.
That makes mom stress a lot
and that, in turn, makes her blood pressure go up,
but all-in-all she got a good report from the doctor
and for that we are very grateful.
We talked to a lady in the lobby while we were waiting...
she is recovering from some extensive cancer treatment.
From what she described she's been through a lot.
You would never have known, though.
She was so charming and so full of life.
She's grateful to be alive!
Kind of makes me re-evaluate mine...

It is almost 6 o'clock pm and my husband is still not home.
He's been working on a job since early this morning.
It's a pretty big job and he needs to finish it by Friday.
So, since he's still working I figured I may as well, too.
I'm back at the books, although I thought this would be a good time to write -
it may not happen if I wait until later.

Why is it that work days seem so long but weekends and vacations pass so quickly?
My husband and I are both weary, I think mostly in our minds.
We've been feeling that a lot lately.
Is it because we're getting older and growing weary from the work load,
or is it from all the stress people have to deal with these days?
Maybe it's a combination of both.
Don't get me wrong, we are grateful for the work,
we like being able to have a roof over our heads and have electricity
and we really like eating (well, maybe me more than my hubby).
We pray for strength, and for wisdom, and for a better attitude
because we really do have so much to be thankful for.

Anyway, these thoughts are from a weary mind today...
do any of you ever feel that way?

Let us be refreshed in the Word:
