Where do I begin...
I knew today would be exciting because it was the annual Children's Christmas Presentation at church,
and later in the evening we would be celebrating Ethan's first birthday.
Today was also my dad's birthday but he's celebrating in Heaven now.
So, we get to church and get a seat...right behind our son, daughter-in-law, and Sarah.
Before the performance starts, people are mingling and chatting.
A friend comes up to us and we start to talk and then we realize the performance is about to begin
but just before my friend leaves to go back to her seat she says to me,
"so what do you think about Hannah?" to which I replied, "what do you mean?"
and she continues, "what do you think about Hannah's hair?"
and my mouth dropped open because what she said could only mean one thing.
So I sat down and began to cry.
I looked at Manny and he looked at me.
The play began...it was wonderful, as usual! Hannah had two different parts
she mostly sang in the first service and she spoke and sang in the second
but during the first service she came up to the front of the stage to do a solo
and that's when we saw her and I cried some more!
I'm not sure why it hit me so hard. I knew she couldn't grow her hair forever
and she'd been wanting to get it cut for some time now...
She just looked so grown up, and I felt that horrible pain in the pit of my stomach
just as I did when our boys hit a milestone in their lives.
But all these things are a part of life, we can't keep our children children forever.
They will eventually grow up and the cycle of life continues.
What matters most is what's on the inside, what's in the heart.
That's where true beauty comes from anyway.
I'm not saying that Hannah's not beautiful anymore - quite the contrary,
and Hannah was not just beautiful because of her beautiful hair.
Still, it was a BIG step for her (and I suppose for Grandma Dee, too.)
So this was Hannah the night before
♥I love you Hannah ♥
Ok, so I'll continue with Part 2 tomorrow:
Ethan Turns ONE!

She looks ADORABLE in her new hairdo and I just had to tell her.
